Supporter Feature: Deck Insights
Do a deep dive on your deck list
When you become a supporter of Inkborn Forge on Patreon you get access to additional features on InkbornForge. One of the features you have access to is a deep decklist analysis. The deck insights tool has many sub features that I want to introduce to you.
Format Legality
One of the most basic features you’ll have access to is the format legality validator. It’s a pretty small feature, but a nice one. Once you paste in any deck list you’ll get a quick overview of the legality of your deck for both the Core Constructed and Infinity formats. It’s especially benificial if you don’t follow the ins and outs of card bans. If you try to add a card that is banned in a format, you’ll immediately know it.
Deck Insights
This is the functionality that brought about the the name of the overall set of features. You’ll see things like Ink Curve, Curve Probability, “Brickability,” and Lore Density. You’ll also see some projections of the overall Quest Pressure, estimated Win Turn (If cards just go sideways) and an overview of the number of draw effects, ramp effects, and recursion effects in your deck. All of this is really useful high level info about your deck, or about a deck list you’re trying to evaluate.
Mulligan Advisor
Sometimes when you see a list, you dont really know where to start with how to play it. The Mulligan advisor gives you some overall guidence. It’s not always accurate as we’re doing a pretty low level evaluation here. An example of this is the example list I’ve been using for this post which is a Mickey & Minnie shift Emerald / Sapphire deck. Obviously the goal is to get the Mickey & Minnie Duo out on T3 or T4, so you wouldn’t want to mulligan that card away. But the overall thrust of the mulligan advice is sound. Keep your cheap cards, and ship the uninkable and expensive cards.
Monte Carlo Simulation & Hypergeometric Math
When I first started playing Disney Lorcana, I wasn’t really familiar with things like Hypergeometric Math, and I didn’t understand it’s importance to draw odds. When you’re playing one of the Sapphire decks that dominated Seasons 1 and 2, hitting your ramp on 2 was one of the most important things, so understanding your odds to hit your ramp is super important.
I’ve read the articles about how to calculate the odds, but sometimes I had trouble applying it to my actual deck especially once you add in scry effects like Develop Your Brain. So I built a tool that solves that problem for me.
Using the Interface you can select what cards you need by what turn, and the algorithm will give you the odds for having those cards by that turn, and what the odds are depending on how many cards you alter.
The examples below use Fungus DLC winning List from Richmond and shows the probability of having ramp on 2, followed by a 4d on turn 3.
The best part of this is that it’s smart enough to model in draws for turn, additional draws, play / draw, and scry effects. All of those are configurable at the top of the page. This gives you lots of flexibility when trying to understand the draw odds for your deck.
Conclusion
This is just one of the features you’ll have access to in when you become a supporter of Inkborn Forge. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing more about the other features you’ll have access to.
